Finding Joy

There are no hopeless situations. There are only men who have grown hopeless about them. – Clare Boothe Luce

Life always has a way of presenting you with situations, some normal, some common, some funny, but some seemingly hopeless. Let me tell you something… there is always hope. If you are breathing-there is hope, if you are alive-there is hope.

We have all faced circumstances and situations in our life that leave us weak, feeling like there is no point in fighting anymore and feeling like we should just give up. Some of these situations are but for a moment or a couple of years, others are for many years and others lifelong. Let me tell you, no matter what you are facing today, no matter how long you have been facing it; you can keep going, there is hope, there is a future, there is possibility, there is strength within you to get up today and hold you head up and keep going forward.

You are special, you are someone. You may feel like no one sees you, that no one can possibly know what you are going through, and that no one cares. You first have to care and love yourself, and the only way to do this is to know yourself, and the only way to do that is to know God.

you were created by a supreme being, a powerful, loving, all mighty God. He created you perfect.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. -Ps 139:13-15

I don’t know if I just lost you there, mentioning God, But if your life up to now has been full of disappointment, anger, frustration, depression, and hopelessness and you have tried and failed at so many attempts to set your mind and your life straight; today I urge you – try God. He is waiting for you to reach out to Him, to call out to Him, to cry out to Him. He has never left your side, He has never left you alone and never will. Why not depend on Him.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:7-8

He has pulled me out of darkness. When before I looked around at my life, at my “future” it was so bleak, hopeless, dark, full of anger, resentment, fear, anxiety and loneliness. Today I look around me and my life is full of hope, love, light, purpose, forgiveness, and people who I love and that love me back. This is only due to me finding Him, my God, my savior, my redeemer, my provider, my portion, my breath and my life.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you. Ps 139:16-18

Is my life perfect? Of course not. I still face situations and circumstances. But I know that there is life beyond them, I know that there is hope and strength through them, I know that He is with me through the whole thing. He strengthens me, lifts my head, and holds my hand through it. I know that no matter what happens I am not alone; everyone in my life can abandon me, turn their backs on me, and I could lose all that I love and hold dear; I know I will never loose him. He will never turn His back on me, He would never abandon me. Knowing this mighty truth- that the all supreme, creator of the universe, the Great I Am, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords loves me to this extreme; that He is eternally faithful to me; then I have it all. All I am, all I ever have needed or ever will need I can find in that truth, I can find it in Him.

Look around today. Wherever you are. You may be experiencing loss, loneliness, fear, depression, addiction, anxiety, sickness, or even death; but your still here. If there is still breath in your lungs there is hope. Call out to him today. There are no perfect words, no ritualistic prayer you have to pray for Him to hear you. He created you, He has known your end from before your beginning. He Knows you are calling out to him. He knows your voice. He knows your thoughts. Speak to Him today. Ask Him to strengthen you, ask Him to lead you out from where you are, ask Him to fill you with His love. Call out to Him today, He is waiting, and you are longing.
