As long as I can remember I have been grateful for the little things. Today I am so grateful for our big home I get to raise my children in, but it’s the same gratitude I remember having when edwin and I first got married and were living in Honduras and didn’t have much; more than 14 years ago, and all I would have is enough money to walk across the dirt road and buy three eggs for our breakfast. We didn’t have a microwave so I would heat up food in pots on the stove; but I was grateful for what God had provided me. Over the years we have been together have lived in 8 different homes from a small apartment behind the children’s home when Alex and Krystal were babies to a vacant boys home in the windy town of amatitlan Guatemala, to our nice home we have today. I have loved every single one of them. I hold the gratefulness to God and the specialness of The moments spent together, the warmth, and the provision that comes from God near to my heart. Have all our moments been happy, of course not, it’s not a fairy tale; but I have learned to live my life as Paul in Philippians said “to be content with little or with much.”

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” ~Phil 4:12

There is another verse in Philippians 4:19 the I have applied to my life and it is “He will provide for you from the riches of His glory”, for me this is not about money. It can be, but for me in a world full of anxiety and fear, the riches of His glory is peace and a sound mind; in a world of anger and frustration, the riches of His glory is peace and contentment. His provision is not strictly monetary, it’s the provision of whatever you are lacking in your life in that moment.

I have truly been happy wherever we have found ourselves and with however much we have had. It has all come from the Father who knows me better than I know myself.
